We’re young. We’re dumb. We’re preparing to GO.
The world? The west coast? Your backyard?
The only thing we know is the time we’ll go. We’re setting aside money from our paychecks, preparing mentally and prayerfully and have our eyes and hearts wide open. We’re not going just to go. We’re not moving just to move. We are preparing for something. Taking a first step outside of normal routine, an intentional unlocking of the secure little life we’ve found ourselves in.
We’re not ready, never will be ready but that’s ok. We’re not responsible for how the path unfolds – we’ll do what we can, know and believe and see how the adventure tells itself. We want to live beyond us and beyond what we can plan. What’s the greater story? The one we can’t even begin to tell from where we’re standing right now?
Who are we?
Jacob Hans and Carrie Joy King (previously Keagy) married on May 30, 2010 in a big meadow at a family cabin. Met at Eastern Mennonite University in Virigina (Jake modeled for Carrie’s senior photography show…sparks flew). Jake’s from good ole’ Goshen, Indiana and Carrie grew up in the farmlands of Washington Boro, Pennsylvania. Jake majored in English and Carrie in photography.
We love to create, adventure, work hard, sweat, dream and pray together.
What’s with the name? Kings of small things?
We have no idea. We just started spouting off words that rhymed with ‘kings’ and it stuck. I’m sure there are many symbolic elements you could connect it to… the most cliché would be that its the little things that make the most difference – something we don’t want to overlook on this adventure .
Have an opportunity for us? We’ll go where we’re welcomed!

I know! I hope the family has a wonderful spring; we’re sure enjoying the Southern weather.
I love your blog, read it weekly and I am loving your adventure and your recounting it in the blog so nicely. We will miss you at the King Mem Day get together.
Uncle Jim! We miss you! It was very fun to skype with all of you fun folks!
Your grandpa Wingert, who used to be my pastor once upon a time, directed me here. Delightful!
